Chuck Serface lives in the San Francisco Bay Area. He holds a BA in Psychology and an MA in English Literature (Emphasis: Creative Writing) from San Jose State University. Since 1988, he has been a crisis interventionist with Suicide and Crisis Services of Santa Clara County. From 2008 to 2010, he took a leave of absence to volunteer for the Peace Corps TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) Program, serving in Ukraine, where he taught colloquial and business English for the Department of Foreign Languages for Banking Business at Ternopil National Economic University, now West Ukrainian National University. An acute myelogenous leukemia (AML) survivor, Chuck has been in remission since June 2004. With Christopher J. Garcia and Alissa Wales, Chuck co-edits the Hugo-winning fanzine, The Drink Tank. He frequently contributes and guest-edits for Journey Planet as well. With Team Journey Planet, he’s a nine-time finalist for the Hugo Award for Best Fanzine.
